Continuity with Customised Products

Stability and co-determination further belong to the keystones of the customer philosophy of GUARDUS, which is now part of the ZEISS Group

Press Release - Ulm, 14 June 2018

At the end of April 2018, ZEISS and GUARDUS have announced that the software solutions supplier for computer-supported quality assurance and production man-agement systems based in the German city of Ulm has become a wholly owned subsidiary of the ZEISS group. This involves changes which the MES specialists from Ulm will be undergoing and which can only be implemented gradually. Thus, in a few weeks, the company will operate under the name Carl Zeiss MES Solu-tions GmbH. The software solutions will bear the name ZEISS GUARDUS.

However, despite all the changes, there is one thing that GUARDUS customers can be certain of: Even after the integration of the company into the ZEISS group, the users’ stability and co-determination will continue to be among the keystones of the customer and development philosophy. This is ensured by the continuity at the level of the executive board, with Simone Cronjäger and Andreas Kirsch as CEOs as well as at the level of the contact persons and developers in the team.

“Our entire engineering and project management is further oriented to our custom-ers’ demands and projects. And it will also continue in the same way in the future”, says Simone Cronjäger. Continuity is ensured, for example, by GUARDUS ideas pool as a central element of the development agenda and customer-focused sug-gestion system. Since its start in 2013, over 80 customer ideas have been taken over in the major releases of GUARDUS MES. “Our goal is to encourage the par-ticipation of our customers even more than in the past because, by means of the ideas pool, we are able to shape the future together”.

“On the one hand, ZEISS’ position as a global technology leader stands for the security of investment of the software solutions. On the other hand, GUARDUS’ customers should continue to remain involved in the continuous, successful devel-opment of solutions in the future. It is only by mutual trust and an open exchange between the company and its customers that we can continue to write GUARDUS’ history. Through the perspective integration of GUARDUS MES into the solution portfolio of ZEISS, the scope of application is extended with topics of data analysis with ZEISS PiWeb and global business apps relating to the smart factory”, says Christoph Grieser, Head of Software & Quality Intelligence, Carl Zeiss Industrielle Messtechnik GmbH.

The basis of the further development is GUARDUS MES, which, by means of its integrated data pool, covers all the quality and production-relevant data along the value-added chain. Thus, there will be more opportunities to adjust the require-ment-oriented MES solutions to each customer situation even more strongly. The complete data symbiosis in the MES environment provides the customers with completely new options and thematic fields. By pooling their shop floor expertise, GUARDUS and ZEISS aim to be a leading software provider and a highly effective partner for the digital transformation in the discrete manufacturing industry.

The cooperation with the customers takes place on the most varied occasions: at the GUARDUS talks, during the round tables of the MES manufacturer, which take place regularly, the annual customer days or day-to-day trainings, counselling and sales projects.
