GUARDUS MES Function Networks Provide Maximum Work Efficiency

Rethinking Ergonomics: From the Active Process Orientation to the Intelligent Method Support

Control 2015 –Stuttgart Trade Fair – from 5 to 8 May – Hall 1, Booth 1617

The dynamic function networks of the manufacturer of Manufacturing Execu-tion System (MES), GUARDUS Solutions AG, which will celebrate the pre-miere at the trade fair Control 2015, set standards in terms of software ergo-nomics and work efficiency. As a further development of conventional proc-ess concepts, the new method set offers context-sensitive function clusters that orient themselves towards the corresponding tasks of the user related to the situation, product, or customer. The main topic of the trade fair is the function networks that support the management level, especially quality planning, production data collection, and complaint handling in a dynamic way. “The management level is precisely the level where the interface de-signs with rigid process sequences do not make too much sense. In the case of the quality planning of a global supplier, for example, by means of GUARDUS MES, the responsible person must be able to react in a flexible way according to the customer’s requirements”, said Simone Cronjäger, member of the Executive Board of GUARDUS Solutions AG. In the light of the above, the information ways may lead to the final inspection plan either via the control plan, or via the CAD drawing, or version inspection plan. The re-sult: Depending on the process variants, the GUARDUS MES function network “Inspection Planning” provides the necessary bundle of functions as well as comfortable user gateways to third-party applications in an intuitive user interface.

Many Roads Lead to Rome
The software follows the process, not the other way around – this philosophy per-fectly describes the mode of operation of modern, process-oriented applications for enterprises. Consequently, the user interfaces must be entirely tailored to the user’s individual needs. The approach is correct and important in terms of usability for workplaces with little process variance, such as on the shop floor when executing clearly defined in-process controls. However, if we have a look at the tasks in quality and production management, we can hardly perceive stability and clarity. Here, the work routines regarding one and the same basic activity may be significantly different, depending on the complexity of a product, the specifications of a new customer, or the legal requirements of certain markets. In this case, the GUARDUS MES user needs a clearly higher diversity of functions that nevertheless orient themselves towards the necessary processes. The new GUARDUS MES function networks overcome the supposed splits with bravery. They are conceived as a block system that provides a method, that is, a networked set of functions, for each task in order to support the user in an efficient way. From now on, GUARDUS offers, for all of its standard modules of its MES, ready-for-use function networks that individually adapt themselves to the customer demands.
