The Secret of Successful Software Solutions Is the User Acceptance

The MES specialist GUARDUS celebrates the success of its knowledge platform GUARDipedia

Press Release - 29 August 2016

The human centred design philosophy of the MES specialist, GUARDUS Solutions AG, has set a benchmark in the field of software and user ergonomics for many years. An example of it is also the knowledge platform GUARDipedia, which has offered exceptional comfort to the customers of the Manufacturing Execution Systems GUARDUS MES for more than three years. Contrary to the traditional support concepts, the online portal provides not only information regarding the modules, functions and data flows. The approximately 2,000 help pages, 2,500 screenshots and 100 function and process models also ensure the essential understanding of the complex correlations in quality and production management. The multiple customer-specific project and process documentation that can be maintained by the user of the MES in several languages in a protected area of the portal is also worth mentioning. In order to ensure the long-term success of the platform, GUARDipedia constantly grows and this happens not only at the level of the content. New functions, such as the media manager for a quick upload of images and documents, an optimised table management and the new draft system with its editing and release processes, round off the provided user comfort.

A system is only as good as the user who operates it – pursuant to this motto, GUARDipedia unifies the extensive MES knowledge of almost three decades in a Wiki. The central MES information source ensures the targeted knowledge transfer regarding all GUARDUS MES standard functions, entry fields and dialogues, from module overviews and ‘Tips & Tricks’ up to a detailed description of the resources and fields. Another element of GUARDipedia is the intelligent process maps which allow for a multimedia-based visualisation of all the MES processes as well as the explanation of their correlation and process-related interconnectedness.

“With GUARDipedia, we cross the borders of the traditional online help. Our goal is not only to explain screen forms and functions, but also to offer a holistic, process-oriented perspective. It is only if the users really understand the interdependence of their work with other task areas that they can exhaust the IT potential for their company. Moreover, it is only then that we can speak of a successful and sustainable use of software”, said Simone Cronjäger, member of the Executive Board of GUARDUS Solutions AG.

GUARDipedia: An Ever-growing Portal

All the information about the quality and production management of the standard system GUARDUS MES are already provided upon delivery. Furthermore, the knowledge portal focuses on active user interaction. Thus, the customers have the possibility to maintain customer-specific configurations in the protected areas of the portal and to directly link them with the already existing information areas – from process descriptions, individual parameterisation and interface definitions up to project and training documentation.

An extensive authorisation concept prevents the customer areas from unauthorised access and provides multi-level versioning and release processes. And last but not least: As a multilingual interaction tool, GUARDipedia is, of course, available all over the world.
